This is how this trip started, ice cold. We landed at 1 am, with a not so thin layer of snow, passed security passport check we jump in a cab towards our hotel, ready to get some sleep four our 4-day trip to Russia.
Early enough we join the famous free tour, I think it was the first time for me where I really felt like the tour was endless, with 0 celsius degrees and almost 100% humidity outside, my feet and hand were frozen dead, and I just wanted it to end. So it did, at Kazan Cathedral a gigantic building supported by those stunning pillars.
We couldn't go Saint Petersburg and not visit one their main sights in the city, this church it is imposing from the outside, but the insides aren't to miss either.
Even though you can use the metro to sight around we decided to mostly walk, that ended up having some discontent with my couple, but I think we manage quite well, and even though the pictures try to represent a bit what the streets look like, my honest recommendation is for your to go and experience yourself.
Saint Petersburg it is also pretty known for its history of architecture, there are even some papers who call it the Paris of the North. And it has some, otherwise, it wouldn't have a UNESCO designation in its central part, and it wouldn't count with around 8,000 architectural monuments.
One of it nicest attractions it is to go up to St. Isaac's Cathedral, and if the weather allows it enjoy this 360 panoramic view of the city.
Another of the treasures that Russia has it is, the well know metro, I have not been in Moscow and I can't compare, however, I can certainly say, this's been the most beautiful metro I've visited till date. The detail level of every sculpture, wall, column... it is breathtaking.
This trip has been truly fascinating, despite the cold temperatures this trip has taught me a lot about Russian history, culture, food and how spectacular this country must be somewhere else. A few remarks this trip has taught me:
